France

France has introduced temporary measures to temporarily suspend imports of fruit and vegetables containing residues of five pesticides banned in the EU.

While certain pesticides have long been banned in the EU due to their risks to the environment and health, this ban does not yet extend to the export of such plant protection products to countries outside the EU. They continue to be used in those countries and, when goods are imported from these countries, the residues return to the EU in products that have been treated with them.
