Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1808 of 1 July 2024 sets the dates from which the lower limits in the Contaminants Regulation are to apply.

 

The reduction of the maximum value for ergot is postponed by one year to 1 July 2025. The maximum value for ergot alkaloids (EA) in rye flour and rye flour products intended for the end consumer and in wheat flour products with a low ash content (< 900 mg/100 g) will be postponed by 4 years until 1 July 2028.

 

As of 1 July 2024, the new limit of 50µg/kg will apply only to EA in milled products made from barley, spelt and oats with an ash content of < 900 mg/100 g.
