The draft for the update of the EU monitoring programme has been accepted by the professional associations of the food industry. It includes 208 residue parameters for plant-based foods and around 30 compounds for animal products.

The EU's monitoring programme for pesticide residues is updated annually. The programme applies in accordance with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/989. Over the next three years, 10 foodstuffs of plant origin will be tested annually by the national monitoring authorities for up to 208 parameters, and two foodstuffs of animal origin will be tested for up to 33 parameters. These will also include baby food and organic products.

In 2026, the following foodstuffs will be tested: oranges, pears, kiwis, cauliflower, onions, carrots, potatoes, beans (dried), rye (grains), ‘brown rice’ (= de-husked rice), poultry fat and beef liver.

YOUR PLUS: We will inform you about the scope of the investigation after publication of the regulation so that you can set appropriate priorities in your future inspection plan design if necessary.
