The German Society for Nutrition (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ernährung e. V. (DGE), together with its partner organisations in Austria (ÖGE) and Switzerland (SGE), has updated the reference values for the daily intake of dietary fibres, pantothenic acid and magnesium.

The D-A-CH* reference values for nutrient intake specify the optimal amounts for the daily intake of energy and nutrients for a balanced whole-food diet. The recommendations are regularly adapted on the basis of new studies and consumption habits in German-speaking countries.

For the intake of dietary fibre, the previous guideline value for adults of at least 30 g per day continues to apply, which corresponds to a dietary fibre density of 14.6 g/1000 kcal (3.5 g/1 MJ) per day.

For the vitamin pantothenic acid, the recommended daily intake was reduced from 7 mg to 5 mg for children over 10 years and adults. For breastfeeding women, however, it was increased from 1 mg to 7 mg per day. For magnesium, the adequate daily intake was set in estimates based on consumption studies. For adults, it is 350 mg/day for men and 300 mg/day for women.
