France renews the ban on the import, import and placing on the market of fresh fruit and vegetables from countries outside the European Union that have been treated with thiacloprid-based plant protection products

Since February 3, 2020, it has been prohibited in the European Union and in France since the decree of February 23, 2024, to import, import and place on the market products from countries outside the European Union. France renews this suspension by the decree of February 24, 2025 of this insecticide from the neonicotinoid family.

New MRLs are planned in the European Union, which will apply from May 12, 2025. Many fruit categories (apricots, cherries, herbs, olives for oil production, etc.) will have a lower MRL (see Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/2711 of October 22, 2024 amending Annexes II and V to Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards maximum residue levels for thiacloprid in or on certain products)

YOUR PLUS: Our residue screening tests not only enable the reliable detection of the active ingredient thiacloprid, but also the determination of the residue content. The results are evaluated in accordance with European specifications and, on request, also in accordance with other national, association or customer-specific specifications.
