The authorisation for the herbicide Benfluralin will no longer be renewed. It had last been extended until 28.2.2023.
The European Commission announced the non-renewal of the authorisation of Benfluralin (CAS No. 1861-40-1) by Regulation (EU) 2023/149 of 20.01.23. Member States shall withdraw authorisations for plant protection products containing Benfluralin by 12/05/23 at the latest. Their expiry date is 12.8.23.
For most fruits and vegetables, the maximum permitted level should be set at 0.02 mg/kg.
