Allergens in food

This code of practice gives detailed guidance on allergen management throughout the whole supply chain and also supplements the General Principles of Food Hygiene and the ongoing work on allergen labeling by the Codex Committee on Food Labelling.

 

Code of practice on food allergen management for food business operators was adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission.

 

The Codex Alimentarius is a joint initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The Codex Alimentarius commission (CAC) meets yearly to adopt food safety and quality standards and related recommendation. This year the 43. CAC-Session was held virtually.

 

The CAC adopted the code of practice on allergen management for food business operators. This code of practice gives detailed guidance on allergen management throughout the whole supply chain and also supplements the General Principles of Food Hygiene and the ongoing work on allergen labeling by the Codex Committee on Food Labelling.
