Market entry in Romania through the acquisition of an established laboratory
With the acquisition of the laboratory Laborator AMS 2000 in Jebel, near Timișoara (Timiș County), AGROLAB GROUP is now present with its own site in Romania for the first time.
The transfer of the company was completed the beginning of April. The site is now part of AGROLAB GROUP and forms part of the strategic expansion of AGROLAB GROUP’s European laboratory network. By entering the Romanian market, AGROLAB is specifically tapping into a growing region in South Eastern Europe.
“By entering Romania, we are consistently expanding our network in South Eastern Europe. Our aim is to support our customers in this region with the usual AGROLAB quality directly on site,” says Michael Witiska, Managing Director of AGROLAB GROUP.
Strengthening food and feed testing
The laboratory has many years of experience in the analysis of food and feed and complements the existing service portfolio of AGROLAB GROUP in a targeted way. In addition to food and feed testing, the laboratory also offers water analysis, covering further requirements in the environmental sector.
Broad analytical range with a regional focus
With 17 employees, the laboratory brings an experienced and well-coordinated team with strong local market knowledge. This allows existing customer relationships to be maintained while also creating opportunities to develop new business in the region.
“The integration of an established laboratory with an experienced team is a key factor for us. It allows us to build on existing expertise from day one and expand our services seamlessly,” adds Paul Wimmer, Managing Director of AGROLAB GROUP.
Continuity ensures stability and further development
The acquisition has been carried out with a clear focus on operational continuity. Existing structures and responsibilities remain in place and form the basis for the further development of the site within AGROLAB GROUP.
Site management remains unchanged
David Chirila will continue to manage the site, ensuring continuity in leadership and preserving valuable expertise. This guarantees a stable transition for both customers and employees. “We are pleased to become part of AGROLAB GROUP. For our team, this opens up new opportunities for professional development while allowing us to offer our customers a significantly broader range of services,” says David Chirila, Site Manager of the laboratory.
Development and integration within the regional context
The new site will be systematically integrated into the existing AGROLAB GROUP structure. The focus lies on close collaboration with laboratories in South Eastern Europe and on building sustainable structures locally.
Strengthening activities in South Eastern Europe
The development of the site is led by Mate Szombathelyi, OU Director South Eastern Europe. The goal is to leverage regional synergies and continuously expand the service offering. “Romania is an important step in expanding our activities in South Eastern Europe. We see strong potential here in both the food and feed sectors,” explains Mate Szombathelyi.
Further step in the European growth strategy
With this new location, AGROLAB GROUP continues to pursue its goal of supporting customers across Europe with short turnaround times, high analytical quality and reliable service.
Entering the Romanian market not only strengthens the geographical presence of AGROLAB GROUP but also creates a solid foundation for further growth in the region.
