Radish

What hardly anyone knows: radish leaves can be eaten! For example, in mixed salads, herb dips or soups.

For this reason, it was necessary to assign the small radish leaves to a new product group with regard to their assignment to the permissible maximum residue levels. This has now been done with Regulation (EU) 2024/3196 of 18.12.24.

The regulation distinguishes between the leafy greens of large radishes and those of smaller radishes. In Annex I Part B of Regulation (EC) No. 396/2005, under the heading 0243020 “Kale”, a position 0243020-008 “Large radish leaves” (Raphanus sativus var. longipinnatus and var. Niger) is added. This means that the same maximum residue levels continue to apply for radish leaves as for kale.

On the other hand, small radish leaves are now classified under the category 0251060 “Roman rocket/Rucola” as position 0251060-0020 “Small radish leaves” (Raphanus sativus var. Radicula). This means that from January 8, 2025, they will be subject to the maximum residue levels for pesticides such as rocket salad/rucola.

YOUR PLUS: We will take the new classification into account when evaluating the maximum residue levels from January 2025.
