The authorisation of the plant protection active substance S-metolachlor was no longer extended. 

 

The EU Commission no longer extended the authorisation of the herbicide active S-metolachlor (CAS.No: 87392-12-9) with Commission Implementing Regulation 2024/20 of 12.12.2023. It comes into force on 23.01.2024. An utilisation period applies until 23 July 2024.

 

The decision was based, among other things, on exceedances of the drinking water limit value. In addition, there is a high risk for mammals that also feed on earthworms due to the toxicity of metabolites.

 

The maximum residue limit for fruit and vegetables was 0.05 mg/kg. A further lowering of the residue limit is expected.
