As part of the reorganisation of the law on certain foodstuffs, the Ordinance on Foodstuffs for Certain Consumer Groups was put into force on 29.4.23 without transitional periods.

The LMBVV (in German only) supplements at national level Regulation (EU) No 609/2013 on foods for infants and young children, foods for special medical purposes and daily rations for weight-controlled diets.

The previous regulations on herbal and fruit teas for infants or young children are removed from the Fruit Juice and Soft Drinks Regulation and the Tea Regulation respectively and transferred to the new Regulation on foods for special consumer groups.

The special provisions regulating specific maximum residue levels for active substances of plant protection products and pesticides in herbal and fruit teas for infants and young children were transferred to Annex 1. The list of prohibited active substances in Annex 2 was also taken over unchanged into the new Ordinance.

Transitional arrangements (according to § 11 LMBV) apply to processed cereal-based foods and other processed foods until a corresponding new regulation at European level based on Regulation (EU) No. 609/2013.
