(Non-)renewal of the approval for Bifenazate

The authorisation for the active substance Bifenazate has been renewed, but not for use on fruit and vegetables.

 

The decision of the EU Commission was published in Regulation (EU) 2022/698 on 4.5.2022 It entered into force on 24.5.22. The acaricide bifenanzate (CAS No. 149877-41-8) was again approved until 2037, but only for use in closed, permanently constructed greenhouses and exclusively for non-edible crops e.g. decorative plants.

 

The previously authorised uses on soft fruits and vegetables (courgettes, aubergines, cucumbers, tomatoes and sweet peppers) are no longer permitted.
