Use of the active ingredient Sulfoxaflor to be severely restricted

The approval of the active ingredient sulfoxaflor will be restricted to use in sealed greenhouses only.

 

Sufoxaflor (CAS no.: 946578-00-3) may only be authorised for use in permanently constructed greenhouses from 19.11.2022. The authorisations for pesticide preparations containing the active ingredient and which were valid for outdoor use are to be withdrawn by the member states by the aforementioned date, with an expiry date of 19.5.2023.

 

The active ingredient is now considered dangerous for bees and other pollinating insects. In addition, EFSA is proposing an increase in MRLs for lettuce, beans and peas, but this has not yet been adopted.
