For 30 years now, AGROLAB has offered reliable and high quality services throughout Europe, in the area of chemical analysis, at the best possible price-performance ratio. The AGROLAB GROUP employs a total of around 1,400 employees at 21 locations throughout Europe. This success story is not least due to the above average performance level, and the highly qualified experts, often trained by us.
The medium sized company with headquarters in Bruckberg was founded in 1986 as a laboratory for agricultural research. At the time, Dr. Paul Wimmer, Managing Director of the AGROLAB GROUP, already had a clear vision: “I missed the service orientation in the primarily state laboratories at the time. With my private laboratory, I wanted to provide the customers with reliable analysis, cheaply and on time.”
30 years of economic recovery
From the beginning, we have built upon the three columns of processes based on division of labour, consistent IT support and strict service orientation. This has made it possible for us to combine quality and service with promptness. No wonder then that this guiding principle is reflected in our slogan: “Your labs. Your service“.
With this concept, which is also very successful economically, AGROLAB has been able to enter many business sectors. In addition to agriculture, these are the environment, water, food and animal feed sectors. “Word quickly got around, that in Oberhummel, a village in Upper Bavaria with less than 1,000 inhabitants, a laboratory was doing good work and was significantly superior to the state organisations, in terms of service and speed. So, we expanded into the surrounding buildings. By buying the renowned laboratory of Dr.Blasy-Dr.Busse in 1995, we were able to expand our range of services to complete water analysis. By taking over the public law institute LUFA-ITL in Kiel in 2001, we were able to significantly expand our portfolio in the whole feedstuff sector, and add the food sector. I was also able to show, how a more or less “state” unit works profitably under private management and could grow into one of the biggest laboratory locations in Europe. Our market presence in other European countries is also continually increasing.”, explains Paul Wimmer about the development history of the AGROLAB GROUP.
Today, the group of laboratories is still privately run and has around 1,400 employees and 21 locations in Europe. The branches have different action priorities but the same standards. State of the art analytical equipment and the latest communication technology is used in the laboratories. Furthermore, AGROLAB builds on highly qualified experts and well thought out organisation. “We commit to a very high quality standard”, admits Paul Wimmer.
AGROLAB is now indispensable as an employer in the regions.
This very stable field provides employees with the opportunities to advance personally and professionally. The flat hierarchies and the results-oriented work contribute to the high level of personal responsibility and transparent decision making.
AGROLAB is one of the biggest employers in the professional field of “laboratory technician” in the regions of Lower Bavaria and Schleswig-Holstein. Every teaching year, the laboratories in Bruckberg and/or Kiel offer six and/or ten apprentices a good start in the professional world. In the 3.5 years of the apprenticeship, the young junior employees are introduced to the operations on state of the art analytical equipment, and optimally prepared for the high quality standards in the day to day life of the laboratory. Until now, AGROLAB has been able to take on all successful apprentices in an open ended employment contract.
In future, apart from the apprenticeship, there will also be an opportunity for a dual degree, to allow good professionals to gain a higher qualification, and managers to recruit directly from their own ranks.

We have been providing a reliable and high-quality service for our customers for 30 years now and have always placed great emphasis on cooperation on par with our customers. Right from the start, AGROLAB has stood for excellent customer service - before, during and after the analysis. Every customer benefits from a responsible employee, who takes care of their needs regarding tendering, sampling, transport and logistics of the sample. Equally, a contact person is available in the laboratory for ongoing orders. This is the biggest difference to other laboratories.
Internal celebrations for the company anniversary
The 30-year success story is of course primarily due to the employees and their great dedication. For this reason, we will celebrate the anniversary fittingly, with all the employees of the AGROLAB GROUP and some honored guests on 9.9.2016.
