Zakaz stosowania BPA: Opublikowano ROZPORZĄDZENIE (UE) 2024/3190

Od 31 grudnia 2024 r. w UE obowiązuje zakaz stosowania bisfenolu A (BPA) i jego pochodnych w materiałach mających kontakt z żywnością, np. foliach, plastikowych pojemnikach, butelkach na napoje itp. Zakaz ten obowiązuje od pewnego czasu w wielu innych krajach, ponieważ substancja ta jest uważana za rakotwórczą i działającą  zaburzająco na gospodarkę hormonalną, tj. może negatywnie wpływać na równowagę hormonalną w organizmie. W rezultacie wielu producentów od lat zastępuje BPA w swoich produktach innymi składnikami, więc rozporządzenie to będzie miało niewielki bezpośredni wpływ.

W odpowiedzi na zakaz, wkrótce zostanie wydane zalecenie dotyczące monitorowania testowania BPA i powiązanych związków w żywności

BPA ban: REGULATION (EU) 2024/3190 published

The use of Bisphenol A (BPA) and its derivatives for materials that come into contact with food, e.g. foils, plastic containers, drinking bottles, etc., is banned in the EU from 31 December 2024. This ban has been in place in many other countries for some time because the substance is considered to be carcinogenic and acts as an endocrine disruptor, i.e. it can negatively affect the hormonal balance in the body. As a result, many manufacturers have been replacing BPA in their products with other components for years, so this regulation will have little direct impact.
In response to the ban, a monitoring recommendation shall be issued for the testing of BPA and related compounds in food soon,

EU Kommission bereitet Höchstwerte für anorganisches Arsen (iAs) in Fischen und Meeresfrüchten vor

Anorganisches Arsen wird mit einer Reihe von Gesundheitsrisiken in Verbindung gebracht, darunter auch einige Formen von Krebs. Zu dieser Einschätzung kam die EFSA in einer aktuellen  Risikostudie. Neben den Grenzwerten für Reis, sollen nun auch Höchstmengen für Fische und Meeresfrüchte festgelegt werden und auch für Kochsalz. Am Entwurf der EU-Verordnung wurde von Seiten der europäischen Lebensmittelwirtschaft erwartungsgemäß Kritik geäußert.

EU Commission prepares maximum levels for inorganic arsenic (iAs) in fish and seafood

Inorganic arsenic is associated with a number of health risks, including some forms of cancer. This was the conclusion of a recent EFSA risk assessment. In addition to the limits for rice, maximum levels are now also to be set for fish and seafood, as well as for table salt. As expected, the European food industry has criticised the draft of the EU regulation.
